Welcome! Please Introduce yourself!

Hello All! We are so excited about this blog. If you recieved the e-mail please skip the next paragraph.

I would like to explain who created this blog and how it came about. The creators and managers are Anne Shanahan, Kerry Belvill, and Sandy Santillan. The three of us work together at Cal State Fullerton. and we call ourselves WW Buddies! I'm Anne and I have been on an amazing weight loss program since September 2008. I've lost 42 pounds and I am about 4 pounds from my goal weight (if I don't change it again)! Next is Kerry, she has been on this amazing program since September 2008 and has lost a total of 44 pounds and is about 15 pounds from her goal weight. Lastly, there is Sandy, she has been a lifetime member on and off for many years. She also started the program again in September in 2008 and has been a lifetime member since December. Since September we have discussed food on a daily, or should I say, hourly basis and have occasionally attending WW meetings together. We discuss everything from food, recipes to excercise. Every Monday we e-mail eachother with our goal for the week and also mention any confessions (like my three slices of cake I ate last Thursday)! We have realized that we all have been able to lose and maintain our weight because of the stron support we provide for eachother. We are not perfect eaters but we support each other and that's what it is all about. The three of us have realized how important it is to have the tight support and that is why we have some up with our own blog. The purpose of the blog is for everyone to support each other, post ideas, struggles, frustrations, questions, conessions and whatever else is on your mind. The WW Buddies plan to post a new topic or inspiring story every 2 weeks to help keep it fresh. Feel free to share this blog with friends.

Now that you know who we are we would like to know about you (if you feel comfortable)! Feel free to also share ideas about what works for you.

What works for the WW Buddies!

  • Try to workout at least 30 minuts a day - weat a pedometer (10,000 steps = 5 miles)
  • Journal - Keeps you in control
  • When you go out to eat, get the to go box before you start eating and immediately set your portions
  • Plan when you are going out to eat (if you can) what you are going to to get, when in doubt order some kind of grilled chicken
  • FYI: Many restauratns now have nutritional information online and on their menu
  • Although frozen lunches can be good, I try to avoid them unless I am in a pinch because they are high in sodium
  • Water, Water, WATER!!!

  1. My name is Kerry Belvill! I am helping manage this blog. I joined Weight Watchers to loose weight but only went to a meeting on campus beacuse I wanted to walk with my friend Sandy. I was hooked and have lost as Anne stated 45 pounds. I feel great but realize that I have lost some motivation to keep it up. I dont have the money to attend weekly meetings so I am hoping this blog can be a place for us to all come together when we need to to assist in our healthy lifestyle. I cant wait to see and learn all about you and your stories!

  2. Hi, my name is Courtney and I joined Weight Watchers in April 2009 after Kerry told me how great it is and I love it! I've lost about 14 pounds and think this blog is a great idea. Particularly after a not so point friendly weekend in Santa Barbara, I need to get back on track!

  3. Hello Everyone, My name is Brenda. I have joined many different programs and am now very interested in loosing weight seriously. I am hoping that through this support program I can achieve my goal. I began to loose a lot of weight and then started a Master's program and lost all of my focus and motivation.

I have to get this under control or I'll for sure end up like both my parents...D I A B E T I C!!! I know I have what it takes in me, but I need to learn to priortize this! I look forward to the fun, laughs, tears, sweat, frustration....EVERYTHING it is going to take to get this weight off and I'm glad to get to do it with you Kerry! I can tell, you're a wonderful person and I look forward to getting to know you and everyone else much better through this journey!

  6. Hi, I'm Deb! I'm excited that you've started this blog and excited to see the tips and tricks you have to share. I've been a bit of a health nut since my junior year of high school (when my friend signed me up for cross country even though I could barely get through a mile w/o stopping) and am always looking for new ways to stay motivated and activities to get involved in! I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks and want to make sure I don't get into "married- comfortable-weight gain" mode :)

  7. Hello, my name is Jasmine Mageno. I joined Weight Watchers about 3 years ago, lost 15 pounds... but fell off the wagon hard after my engagement was called off. My weight gain since then has been up and down, and out of control. I cannot wait to start investing in a healthier me, and I am happy that I will finally have the support to do it again.

  8. Hi, I'm Diane and my goal is to lose about 24lbs. Since I started school I continue to eat poorly and not exercise. I have a hard time getting motivated to go to the GYM but once I get there I am fine. I'm not sure how I'm going to get motivated since my hubby and I have different schedules for the Fall and will not be able to work out together...any ideas?
